Workshop on

Math Physics Equations

Thuesday 11 June, visit of AUBG

Wednesday 12 June 10:30 -11:30

Jacopo Bellazzini (Pisa)

title: Ground state energy threshold and blow-up for NLS with competing nonlinearities

Abstract:We consider a 3D nonlinear Schrodinger equation with combined nonlinearities, where the leading term is an intercritical focusing power-type nonlinearity, and the perturbation is given by a power-type defocusing one. We answer the question whether the ground state energy, which is a threshold between global existence and formation of singularities, is achieved. Joint work with Vladimir Georgiev and Luigi Forcella.

Wednesday 12 June:afternoon Round table

Thursday 13 June: 10:30-11:30

Alessandro MIchelangeli (HCM Bonn and PMU Khobar)

title: Impurities, filaments, and membranes perturbing linear and non-linear Schroedinger equations.

abstract:The presentation is going to be a mix of (unavoidably partial) overview and (unavoidably biased) propaganda on the following pretty general subject: what changes do occur, what classical results do happen to fail, and what methods need be adapted or replaced in the study of well-posedness, spectral properties, long-term behaviour, and emergence as effective many-body evolution, of linear and non-linear Schroedinger and Dirac equations with additional perturbations supported on isolated points, or curves, or surfaces?

Thursday: 14:30-15:30

Ryunosuke Kusaba (Waseda University and Pisa University)

title: Asymptotic expansions of global solutions to the convection-diffusion equation: Fujita-subcritical case

Abstract: We consider the large time behavior of global solutions to the convection-diffusion equation in the Fujita-subcritical case. We improve the convergent rate of the remainder for the first order asymptotic expansion established by Zuazua (1993). We also prove the optimality and non-optimality for the convergent rate by deriving the second order asymptotic expansion.
